Kit BerryWelcome!  Stonewylde is the story of a hidden place in Dorset, told in five novels. There’s romance and magic, but also cruelty and intrigue.   It’s a place of standing stones and green energy where nature is revered and the landscape is sentient.  Once you’ve read Stonewylde, you’ll never look at our folk customs or a rising full moon in quite the same way.

Please have a browse; there’s lots here about the books, the festivals and the lunar calendar, details of exclusive gifts and an events diary too.  If you sign in (you only have to do this once) you can leave comments on the website and receive my next newsletter.  There’s also a Stonewylde social network group if you’d like to be in touch with me and other readers.

And if you’re wondering ‘Why so much stuff around a series of contemporary novels?’ – it’s because Stonewylde lingers long after you’ve finished reading.  You’ll glimpse it in that space between dreaming and awakening, between imagination and reality.  Stonewylde is a heady and addictive mix that touches the heart – and never lets you go.

Magical Faerie Festival

Date:
Saturday, May 11, 2013
Magical Faerie Festival

I've been invited as a special guest to this lovely event. I shall be at the festival all day on Saturday May 11th and will give a talk about the Green Magic of Stonewylde. Afterwards I'll be with Matthew Callow on the main stall signing copies of the Stonewylde series, and giving away bookmarks and badges.

You can buy weekend tickets, with camping too, or come as a day visitor.  This is a great chance to dress up and browse the lovely stalls, take part in many workshops and listen to some great music.  Mr B and I are really looking forward to the Faerie Festival, which is in Findon near Worthing in Sussex.

Tickets are available via the website - click here.

Save Wild Tigers - St Pancras event

Kit Berry at St Pancras International Station - Save the Wild Tigers

I was so glad to take part in this amazing event, the purpose of which was to highlight the dreadful plight of Asia's remaining wild tigers.  It's estimated that there are only about 3,500 wild tigers left in the world today, which means that extinction looms for this most beautiful of creatures.  There are more tigers in captivity than in the wild.

Save the Wild Tigers!

Save the wild tiger

I'm taking part in the Save the Wild Tigers initiative at St Pancras Station on Sunday 17th March. There's a whole day full of activities for children called Tiny Tigers, and I'm reading tiger stories at 12.30 and 1.30. After me it's Bill Oddie, and a tiger tea party! There's face painting, art activities, biscuit decorating, dance - something for all the family.

World Book Week - four fab school visits

World Book Day 2013 was on Thursday March 7th, but many schools celebrate for the entire week, and this year, so did I!

The Crabchurch Conspiracy - pikes and mics

Outside the Old Town Hall, Weymouth [(c) Marloes Visser]

These are two men with a mission.  Mark Vine (right) is the author of "The Crabchurch Conspiracy", a slim but fascinating book that's now out of print. It tells the story of events in February 1645, at the height of the English Civil War, when the Royalists made an audacious attempt to recapture the twin towns of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis from the Parliamentarians. Steve Booth, on the left, is one of the people, along with Mark, heavily involved in raising money to renovate the Old Town Hall in Weymouth
